Week 3: EXPERIMENTATION & REFINEMENT

Creating a textures board and initial mood board were the two main tasks set this week. These will hopefully enable me to properly visualise the aesthetic my project will take on, as well as set the scene for the final piece to come together. Making presentation boards of different formats is a crucial skill – one which will be useful in business when illustrating thoughts and ideas to a client.

In addition, I used my parents’ Indonesian cookbook to make a family meal, on Tuesday. The meal was composed of Beef Rendang, Pisang Goreng, a coconut and lime -dressed salad, and white rice.

After researching the eating habits of a list of different cultures, it has become apparent to me that my project is well suited to ‘Mithai’ – the sweets of India and the Far East. I discovered these for myself at the Asian sweetshop Yaadgaar on Newcastle’s West Road.
